Poor rural students to get bikes on loan

About 375,000 poor rural students will be able to ride bicycles on loan from the Education Ministry to travel to school. Deputy permanent secretary for education Jaruayporn Thoranin said the project committee agreed the project would be for needy students of Pathom 3 to Matayom 6 levels in the provinces only.

Last month I was lucky enough to get a new sister. She is not my real sister, she is an AFS exchange student from America. Her name is Nicky. She is bright, bubbly and a wonderful person. She likes to play sport and go to Siam Square with her friends at the weekend.

In the past, Thai films, especially Thai romantic comedies, were a huge hit with moviegoers. Then something happened. Whether it was the increasing wave of Hollywood blockbusters or the general low quality of Thai films, people no longer wanted to see Thai movies.

It�s a (pretty good) dog�s life

Last week, we looked at how the way a piece of text is laid out can help you to understand it. The way it is presented can give us many clues to what might be contained in the text. In the same way that the packaging around a parcel and the stamps on it can hint at what the parcel contains, so can layout style and pictures give us clues to meaning.
This week, as promised, we will look at a feature (a special long article in a newspaper) that was printed recently  in the Outlook section of the Bangkok Post.
