Letter of the week

FUTURE PERFECT

Im nearly 14 years old, and Im in Matayom 3.

Last week, I talked about my future with my dad. I thought that it was time to start thinking about my future.

I dont know what I want to be. When I was young, I thought I wanted to have a job that would make me rich. Later, I wanted to be famous. Now I want to have a job that will make me happy.

My dad said: Thats the future, girl. You have lots of time to think about that, so you mustnt worry so much. You must make the present the best that you can.

I think what he said is true. I have time to think about my future. I hope that one day Ill know that I want to be.

Yanisa Wassanatip, Ayutthaya

I hope one day you will too, Yanisa. While I wouldnt get too stressed out about it, its never too soon to start thinking about your future. A lot of people go their entire lives without ever figuring out what they want to be when they grow up. So the fact that youre thinking about it at the age of 14 is a pretty good sign that youll eventually find the job thats right for you. Editor

PET SMARTS

Last month I read a magazine about pets. The magazine had many magnificent things that you could buy for pets.

There were many beautiful clothes for pets in lots of sizes and decorative designs. There were spas for pets and made-to-order houses. Everything was very expensive.

Maybe people buy these things for their pets but dont give them love and care.

I think that pets do not want these material things. The thing that pets most want form their owners is love.

Nichaporn Padungchaitavi, Bangkok

Youre probably right, Nichaporn. Pets probably dont care whether they have the latest Louis Vuitton bag to ride around in. I know my dog is much happier playing with an old pair of socks than with the fancy toys I bought for him the last time I was in the US. But for a lot of pet owners, one way they show love for their four-legged friends is by buying them stuff. I dont know many people who would spend thousands of baht on a special house for a pet they didnt love. Do you? Editor

NOT ALL BAD

Hello. My name is Pim, and I am 7 years old. I want to talk to you about how much I like America.

I came back from the US 10 months ago. In a few months I will go to study there again! I cant believe it! Over the past two months I have been crazy because my dad told me that Im going to America.

Now Im going to tell you about my school in the USA. The school that my parents want me to go to is Murphy Primary School.

If you got a chance to go to America, would you go?

Pim Singhatiraj, Phuket

I sure would, Pim. I really like the place, and Im happy to hear you like it, too. Editor
