LETTER OF THE WEEK

I have a problem with my emotions. I have changing moods. For example, sometimes I feel annoyed with my friends and I often feel sensitive. Sometimes Im calm and sensible. I know that Im a teenager. Now Im in Matayom 5. I think my emotions should be good and constant but I often feel both good humoured and in a bad mood. These are conflicting emotions. I feel amazed to have that many feeling. I dont understand about my emotions. What can I do. Can you help me, please?

Pongpipat Boontong, Samut Prakan School

Pongpipat, you are probably in the middle of puberty, which is a difficult time. Chemicals in your body called hormones are changing the way you look and the way you think, and this is normal. A good way to start controlling your emotions is to write down a list of things you hate and which make you bad tempered. Then look at the list again. Are these problems really so bad? Editor

Treasures of Sukothai

Sukhothai is my hometown. It is near three provinces, namely Phitsanulok, Uttaradit and Tak.

Sukhothai is important to history. Do you know why? It is because it has many ancient remains and antiquities. Ancient remains of Sukhothai are located in timeless memorial parks.

Ancient remains are worthy of remembrance. Over the years many foreign tourists have come to Sukhothai to see ancient remains. I would like to invite everybody to come to Sukhothai.

Finally I would like Thai people to love and be proud of our country.

Chutikan Chimanake, Sukhothai

Actually, I have never been to Sukhothai it's on my "to do" list once I get some time away from the office! Editor

MOTHER OF MINE

Have you ever heard this song?

Mother of mine

You gave me all of my life to

do as I please

I have mother

Sweet mother of mine

It is an old song but I love it very much. The song tells me about a woman who gives everything for her children. Whenever I listen to this song, I think of my mother.

I think my mother will become the friend who I have never ever had. Whenever I look into her eyes, it is like a warm light shining into my heart. She is the best teacher and the best friend at the same time. Sometimes if I make a mistake she will give me very useful advice and encouragement, especially when I have some problems at school.

I feel lucky to have such a good mother and Im not ashamed of telling my mother now that I am very proud of her and I love her so much.

Rachanikarn Suwadist, Nonthaburi

Sorry, Rachanikarn, I have never heard that song, but it's quite pretty (if a little short). I am glad you have such a good relationship with your mother remember, many children don't have parents so spare a thought for those less fortunate than yourself as well Editor

Gone farming

My name is Sariat Chatmaleerat. My nickname is O. I am 11 years old. Last month I went to Nakhon Ratchasima.

So I want to share my experience with you and to invite you and your readers to travel to Nakhon Ratchasima.

My favourite place is Chock Chai Farm. There are a lot of animals such as horses, dogs, monkeys, birds, goats and sheep. I was able to draw milk from the cow, ride a horse and watch an animal show.

This was a wonderful time for me because I went with my family.

Music for life

Everybody loves music and music is everywhere. Some people say that music is an international language.

I think thats true. In the past, I learnt English by translating English songs. I can say that music inspired me to love English. People always sing when they are happy. I always sing when I feel sad. Some songs give me faith and hope.

Music is created by humans. There is no animal that can create music. We can say that everybody has music in their lifestyle and music is involved in our life.

Nuttanun Sroisup, Chanthaburi

Music certainly is an international language that knows no boundaries. Thats why learning another language is a lot easier if you learn the words used in that music. However, I would have to respectfully disagree with you when you say that there are no animals that make music. How about birds? Editor
