SPIN-OFF PLANNED

Actor Matt LeBlanc is in advanced talks to star in a spin-off sitcom of the hit TV comedy Friends, according to Variety.

The series would centre on LeBlancs goofy character Joey Tribbiani, a soap opera actor who has been at the centre of Friends during the past two seasons as the love triangle played out among Joey, David Schwimmers Ross and Jennifer Anistons Rachel characters.

YOUNG REAGAN

Actor James Brolin, husband of Democrat Barbra Streisand, will play Republic President Ronald Reagan in a new television series, industry sources said recently. In an ironic twist, Brolin has signed on for the role of Reagan in the production of The Reagans.

James Brolin will take on the role of Reagan and portray his transformation from Hollywood star into president of the United States," an executive at CBS television, which is producing the show, said.

We havent asked Barbra Streisand what she thinks about James Brolin playing Ronald Reagan, but well have to live with that, CBS president Leslie Moonves told Daily Variety.

JAGGER STILL ROCKING

Rolling Stone Mick Jagger, for millions of fans the living embodiment of the sex, drugs and rock n roll credo, turned 60 recently, celebrating a four-decade-long career that seems unlikely to end anytime soon.
Michael Philip Jagger, now known as Sir Mick in Britain after being granted a knighthood from Queen Elizabeth II, set up the Rolling Stones with guitarist Keith Richards, a childhood friend from Dartford, east London, while he was still a student.
To fellow students at the London School of Economics at the time, rock n roll legend and media icon must have seemed an unlikely destination for the shy, middle-class Jagger.

Kate to be a mother

After secretly marrying in May, Titanic star Kate Winslet and American Beauty director Sam Mendes are reportedly expecting their first child. They are absolutely delighted,'' a friend of the couple said. Kate and Sam have been desperate to have a baby together.'' Winslet, 27, was already pregnant when she married Mr Mendes in a secret ceremony in the Caribbean, but did not discover her condition until later. AFP
