The soundtrack for Sat2Mon features music by Slot Machine and Sin from Singular.
If you were to think about the most successful entertainers in Thai showbiz over the past decade, then singer, actor and all-round heart-throb superstar Worrawech Danuwong (Dan) would surely spring to mind.
From his glory days with boy band D2B, to his two successful solo albums and numerous starring roles in hit movies, it seems that everything Dan touches turns to gold.
Recently, the 28-year-old star directed his first film, a sweet romantic comedy called Kuen Wan Sao Thung Chao Wan Jun (Sat2Mon). As well as directing the film, Dan plays the part of Chuad, a nerdy creative producer for a TV show who is falling madly in love with the show’s sexy anchorwoman.
Sat2Mon also stars Dan’s real-life sweetheart — 21-year-old actress Ungsumalynn Sirapatsakmetha (Pattie) — who plays the part of Chuad’s love consultant.
Student Weekly recently caught up with Dan and Pattie at a press conference to ask them all about Sat2Mon, which opens at local cinemas on August 9.
Student Weekly: What is Sat2Mon about?
Pattie: It’s a romantic story that takes place over three days and two nights.
Dan: The plot of the movie was inspired by my personal curiosity about modern relationships. People seem to fall in love so easily these days, so I wanted the film to explore whether people really could fall in love within a couple of days.
Student Weekly: Dan, how was your first experience as a director?
Dan: It was a fun experience for me. Everything was new and challenging, but I was quite pleased with the end result.
Student Weekly: What was the most challenging part of directing the film?
Dan: Thoroughly understanding everything about the film before we started shooting. I wanted to be able to answer any questions that my team might have while we were filming, so I had to do a lot of homework before making the movie.
Student Weekly: Why did you decide to make a romantic comedy?
Dan: I just love to have a laugh. I like being in a happy, friendly environment, so I think it’s the right movie genre for me. Sat2Mon has more comedy than romance because I’m not really a very romantic person.
Pattie: But there are also some drama and action scenes in the film.
Student Weekly: Pattie, this is your first starring role in a movie. Was it more difficult than the previous films you’ve been in?
Pattie: It was definitely harder. The part I played was more mature and complex than my previous roles. Fortunately, we had workshops before filming to help us get into character.
Student Weekly: Dan, how did you decide that Pattie was right for the part in this film?
Dan: It wasn’t actually me who choose Pattie for the film. It was the producer Prachya Pinkaew who suggested that she would be good for the part. People probably think that I picked Pattie to act with me to create more publicity for the film, but it’s not true.
Student Weekly: Do you plan to direct more films if Sat2Mon is successful?
Dan: Absolutely. I already have plans for another movie. It might be based in the characters in this film.
