SW sees an excellent exhibition

Organised by the Department of Fine Arts, the Office of Contemporary Art and Culture and the Ministry of Culture, the Thai Charisma: Heritage + Creative Power exhibition presents the unique charm of Thai art and culture. The exhibition will be held at the Bangkok Art and Culture Centre until November 17.
For Freeze Frame this week, SW takes a look at this great exhibition.
Part of the exhibition is dedicated to Thai silk, which is one of the kingdom’s major traditional products. |
This exhibit shows paintings by celebrated Thai artist Tawan Duchanee, who passed away in September this year. |
These pained earthenware pots are believed to have been made sometime between 1,500 to 2,500 years ago. |
The Traibhumi Book of Preserved Issan Letter was painted on mulberry paper by Noppawong Baothong. The artwork is a fine example of the culture and traditions from the northeast of Thailand. |
The Beyond exhibit by Kamin Lertchaiprasert shows a collection of artworks made of bronze and gold leaf. |
These three standing Buddha images were made of lacquered and gilded wood during the 19th and 20th centuries. |
This sandstone linga statue was made sometime during the 14th to 15th centuries. Linga represents the Hindu deity, Shiva, and is used for worship in temples. |
