Man dies paragliding
A man died after the motorised paraglider that he was piloting suffered an apparent engine failure and crashed in Nonthaburi on August 29.
Wiroj Kittiwithayarom, 40, was found dead in the wreckage of his paramotor about 500 metres from a road. He suffered multiple broken bones in his arms and legs.
Adisak Thanaphutthiphong, 52, a fellow paramotor enthusiast, told police he regularly went flying with Wiroj at weekends. Police investigators suspect the engine may have failed mid-flight.
WEED WEDDING
Bridegroom smuggles drugs
A man arrested in Udon Thani with marijuana worth three million baht has told police he agreed to smuggle the drugs because he needed money for his wedding, authorities said on August 29.
Pongpan Walasud, 26, was apprehended after police and border patrol officers searched a car parked at a petrol station.
Police found fertiliser sacks containing 297 bars of compressed marijuana. Pongpan said he was hired for 50,000 baht by a Lao drug smuggler to take the marijuana to Udon Thani.

KILLER TREE
Soldiers die in crash
A car crashed into a tree. It happened in Songkhla on August 30. Three soldiers in the car were killed. Police were investigating if the driver fell asleep at the wheel or not.
