Did you know

Oab will star in the upcoming drama Nang Rai Thee Rak (Dear Bad Girl).

Having a close friend who has magical powers may be a dream of many teens, but Maysa (Gookgai Pawadee), in the comedy TV series Malee Puen Rak Pa Lang Pid Sa Dan (Malee the Series), just feels irritated. Maysa moves to an international school where she meets Malee (Madame Mod), an exchange student from a mysterious tribe who has magical powers. Malee uses her powers to help Maysa, but her good intentions always go wrong and bring chaos.

Because of the chaos, the handsome student president Go Min Ho, played by Chutavuth Pattarakampol (March), starts to keep an eye on Maysa. At the same time, the introverted Sun, played by Oabnithi Wiwattanawarang (Oab), tries to help keep Maysa and Malee out of trouble.

Student Weekly recently met up with 22-year-old March and 21-year-old Oab to chat with them about their roles in the show and working with the well-known comedian Madame Mod.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your characters in Malee the Series?

March: The personality of each character in this show is extreme in a different way. My character, Go Min Ho, is self-centred and lazy. As the student president, he uses his authority to play pranks on Maysa.

Oab: Unlike myself, Sun is introverted and likes to spend time growing plants.

Student Weekly: What is it like to work on a comedy show?

March: I used to play characters that expressed real emotions, but in Malee the Series, I have to exaggerate everything. Timing is also very important in comedy. If we get the timing wrong, it isn’t funny.

Student Weekly: How is Madame Mod in real life?

March: I know her well because we’ve performed together many times. She’s unique. Off-camera she is quiet, well-mannered and shy. But she always gives us great advice.

Student Weekly: How do you two feel about working together?

March: Because of Malee the Series, we work together often and have become closer. I have got to know Oab well and clicked with him. Also, he is a talented performer. He expresses the emotions of the character in his own way.

Oab: March is nice, trustworthy and reliable. I can talk to him about anything, especially football and Manchester United.

Student Weekly: If you could have special powers like Malee, what kind of power would you choose?

March: I want a chameleon’s camouflage power. I will hide in a room and observe what a person does when they’re alone.

Oab: I like dolphins, so I want to have the power of dolphins. They can swim very fast and can be trained to do lots of tricks.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy filming the show Frozen Hormones in Japan?

March: I was happy and enjoyed spending time with everybody on the trip. It was a huge gathering of 50 actors and crew.

Oab: I’d never seen snow before, so I was excited to go skiing in Sapporo. We also saw sakura during the trip.

Student Weekly: Do you have any message for Student Weekly readers?

March: Check out Malee the Series on GTH on Air every Saturday at 10 pm. Please use #MaleeTheSeries on Twitter, so we can see your comments.

Oab: This series has several moods and is informative, especially about the English language. There are a lot of thoughtful messages in the show. Check it out!
