Well, this is it. My final Editor's Note here at Student Weekly.
It took a lot of soul searching for me to get to the point where I was prepared to leave a job that I've been so happy at for such a long time. But search my soul, I did. And it's time for me to go.
It has been my pleasure to have worked for Post Publishing since 2004. In 2007, I took the helm of this great magazine, one of the longest-running English-language publications in the kingdom.
It's been a privilege to work with the best staff that any publication could hope for. It's their dedication to their jobs — their careers — that brings SW to you every week, all year round.
I've also been honoured to be part of so many readers' lives during my time here. I've received hundreds of letters, many of them asking for advice. It is truly a privilege to have so many of you trust me and reach out when you needed a bit of guidance or words of encouragement. I hope that I've lived up to the trust you've given me.
But things can't remain the same forever. Over the past year or so, it's been feeling more and more like it's time for me to go. I still like my job, but it's become more and more something that I do by rote. At some point I lost the fire in my belly that made me keep wanting to do better.
That's a sure sign that it's time to go. So before I let things slide too much, and before I wear out my welcome, I should be moving on.
By the time you read this, I'll already have boarded my flight back to Seattle. Maybe I'm already there.
I'm off to new challenges. A new career. A new start, while I'm still young enough to make one.
I'm changing my home, but I'll be back to visit from time to time. Thailand and Student Weekly will always have a special place in my heart. This country and this company have been very kind to me in many ways. Thank you, everybody.
Good bye, and good luck.
