PAD leaders sentenced and released
The Criminal Court has sentenced six leaders of the People’s Alliance for Democracy each to two years in prison for leading followers to seize and occupy Government House for over three months in 2008.
PAD leaders Chamlong Srimuang, Sonthi Limthongkul, Pibhop Dhongchai, Somkiat Pongpaibul, Somsak Kosaisuk and Suriyasai Katasila were charged with trespassing on Government House and causing damage to the property from August 26 to December 3 in 2008.
The court approved 200,000 baht bail for each PAD leader on condition they must not travel outside the country.
Bike checks
Officials inspect motorcycle parts
Big bike manufacturers and exporters will have their permits suspended or revoked if they are found selling sub-standard auto parts, particularly exhaust pipes, officials said.
Department of Land Transport official Wattana Pattarachon said prototypes of big-engine motorcycles face checks to ensure that they meet Thai industrial standards. The DLT will also check that auto parts, particularly exhausts, do not produce noise exceeding 95 decibels, Wattana said.

Bungee jump kills tourist
A 25-year-old Kuwaiti tourist died during a bungee jump. It happened on Patong beach in Phuket on May 28. The man’s ankle straps came off during the bungee jump.
