Superstar EDM DJ, producer and crowd-pleaser Steve Aoki is back with his third album, Neon Future II. Despite being a sequel to his previous album, Neon Future I, this album differs due to its experimentation with a variety of sounds and because it features more vocals. It also has a darker, edgier sound.

The opening track, “Time Capsule,” introduces the concept of what “Neon Future” means and sets up the futuristic theme for the tracks that follow.

For this album, Aoki collaborated with several high-profile guest artists including Rivers Cuomo, Snoop Lion, Linkin Park, Matthew Koma and JJ Abrams. These collaborations create a great collision between EDM and other popular genres of music.

The space-themed Neon Future II is full of sounds and voices that sound as if they come from the future. Listening to the album could make you feel confusion, awe or wonder as you experience Aoki’s imaginary future world. That complexity of emotions makes Neon Future II an EDM album well worth listening to. — BS.
