Royal ashes lost
Family members who lost their ancestors� ashes when old stupas were demolished at Wat Kanlaya filed a complaint with police on June 1.
Police spokesperson Supridi Pravitra said that the Pravitra family, descended from a son of King Rama V, would consult the Royal Household Bureau about the incident.
The ashes of seven family members were lost, including those of King Rama V consort Jao Jorm Manda Chaem, who gave birth to the king�s son, Prince Prachin Kittibodee. The prince�s ashes are also gone.

Commuter vans raise fares
Passengers have complained that commuter vans in Bangkok and surrounding areas have raised fares by 10 baht.
The increase came despite the fact that their vans have been converted to run on natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas.
Land Transport Department spokesperson Chairat Sa-nguansue said on June 1 that all fare hikes must be approved by the Central Land Transport Committee and that the van operators had no right to increase fares.
