Some scenes were shot in a real mine in Columbia.
Based on a true story, The 33, directed by Patricia Riggen, is a movie about 33 miners who get trapped underground for more than two months.
In 2010, the eyes of the world turn to Chile, where 33 miners are buried alive by the collapse of a 100-year-old gold and copper mine. Over the next 69 days, an international team works night and day to rescue the trapped men as their families and friends, as well as millions of people globally, wait for any sign of hope. But 700 metres beneath the surface, in the terrible heat and with tensions rising, food and time are quickly running out.
Based on the gripping true story of survival, and filmed with the cooperation of the miners, their families and their rescuers, The 33 captures the never-before-seen actual events, above and below ground, which became a worldwide phenomenon.
Share the hope when The 33 opens in local cinemas on November 12.
