Did you know

The Bantam were originally called Dog Dream.

Opening at local cinemas this week is Tanwarin Sukkhapisit’s latest supernatural romantic comedy film, Ther Khao Rao Pee (You Him Me Ghost).

You Him Me Ghost tells an unusual story of two humans and a ghost mixed up in a love triangle. The film features rising stars Chaiyapol Julien Poupart (New), 23, Steven Isarapong Fuhrer (Mac), 21, and 21-year-old Apa Bhavilai (Maggi).

Student Weekly recently caught up with the three young actors at Bangkok’s House Theater RCA to chat about the making of You Him Me Ghost.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us a bit about your characters and plot of the film?

Maggi: It’s a love triangle story. My character, Som, is a make-up artist with a film crew. She’s secretly in love with Rung (New), a handsome guy who works in the same production team. Som is a typical girl who worries about her boyfriend cheating on her. Then one day she meets another guy who lives next door to her in the same apartment block.

New: But she doesn’t realise that the guy she meets isn’t human.

Student Weekly: Mac, how did you go about preparing for your role as a ghost?

Mac: It wasn’t that difficult. My character is a lonely ghost who’s been dead for more than a decade. He hasn’t spoken to anybody in all that time. To prepare for the part, I just spent time by myself without contacting anybody for a few days to see what it felt like.

Student Weekly: New, after acting in several period dramas, how did it feel to be in a romantic comedy for the first time?

New: It felt great! I love romantic comedies and have been waiting to be in one for a long time. I was brought into showbiz by director M.L. Pundhevanop Dhewakul a few years back, and he was only making period dramas. I enjoyed those and felt honoured to be working in his films, but I’ve always wanted to try something more modern as well.

Student Weekly: Maggi, your character fell in love with an alien in the 2012 film Soob Ku Gu Lok, and now in this film you fall in love with a ghost. How does it feel to play such strange roles?

Maggi: I love it! [Laughs.] It’s good experience for me to play characters that are different from usual. It helps me to use my imagination more.

Student Weekly: Is that true that the production for this film was actually finished almost two years ago?

New: Yes. It took quite a long time to finally come out. I think it had something to do with problems in our country that caused the delay.

Maggi: I almost forgot what my character was like! I had to try hard to remember the film so that I could talk about it in this interview. [Laughs.]

Student Weekly: How would you solve a love triangle situation if it happened to you in real life?

Maggi: I think this kind of thing can happen to anybody in modern societies, because the Internet and all the social network sites make it so easy to meet new people.

New: All you have to do is to hold on to the one you love. If your relationship is strong, you should be able to get through the problem, even if a third person comes into the picture.

Student Weekly: What makes You Him Me Ghost different from all the other romantic comedy and horror movies that have come out recently?

New: There might not be anything so different about this movie, but I can assure viewers that this film is funny, scary, and has a strong, heartfelt romantic story.

Mac: Even if you don’t like horror movies, you can still enjoy this film.
