Did you know
Last year, Fang and Faye launched their Dans La Lune design collection for the Something Boudoir clothing brand.
Top pop trio Faye Fang Kaew put their music career on hiatus for more than a year, but their popularity never diminished.
Last year, the group — Pornpawee Neerasingh (Faye), 21, Dhanantorn Neerasingh (Fang), 22 and Jarinya Sirimongkolsakul (Kaew), 21 — put their musical activities on hold while Fang went to study in Germany with a scholarship.
Now the girls are back together again and have released their new single, “Mouth to Mouth,” which will be featured on their upcoming album, Girl’s Topic.
Student Weekly recently met up with Faye Fang Kaew at the Kamikaze office, where the gorgeous girls told us about their studies and their latest single.
Student Weekly: How do you feel about being selected by the popular website dek-d.com as idols that fans can look up to for your great academic achievements?
Faye: We feel great, and our parents are proud of us.
Kaew: I’m not that good at studying, but I was included on the list because I’m a part of the group. [Laughs.] But I intend to work hard at both my job and my studies. I might not have the best grades, but I’ve never failed any classes.
Student Weekly: Do you ever get stressed about your studies?
Kaew: Of course. I’m a third-year student and I have to work on reports every day. I have to push myself to work harder.
Faye: I don’t think that people should focus only on getting good grades. At university, you can learn lots of different skills, like art and music. Having good grades doesn’t mean that you’re smarter than other students. Other experiences at school and university are just as important. Students should participate in many different activities.
Student Weekly: Have you decided what careers you would like to have in the future?
Faye: Studying for a Bachelor’s degree can help you to figure out what you’re interested in. I plant to study for a master’s degree later in a field that I want to work in. It’s never too late to learn new things.
Kaew: I’m studying a lot of fundamental courses for many different careers, including marketing and management. After getting some basic knowledge, I’ll figure out what I want to do in the future and study for a master’s degree.
Student Weekly: Fang, how was your experience in Germany?
Fang: I went with a scholarship programme between Chulalongkorn University and universities overseas for exchange students. It was the longest period that I’d spent away from home, and I took a course in English language. German students are always punctual and bold about expressing their opinions. Thai students tend to be afraid of speaking up because we worry about being wrong. But in Germany, speaking up is just part of a discussion. There’s no right or wrong thing to say.
Student Weekly: Faye, where did you travel to when you went to Germany with Fang?
Faye: I travelled from Germany to Austria and Czech Republic. I liked Czech Republic the most because the scenery and architecture there is spectacular. In Germany, I visited a lot of palaces. I don’t remember everything that I saw because I lost my camera on a train!
Student Weekly: Kaew, did you enjoy your trip to Dubai during the break?
Kaew: It’s a cool country. It used to be desert, but now it’s full of skyscrapers. I went to see the view from the world’s tallest building, the Burj Khalifa. It was cold up there. I also enjoyed riding on the world’s fastest roller coaster at the Ferrari World theme park. The restaurants in Dubai have great service, and I felt very safe in the city.
Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your new single, “Mouth to Mouth”?
Fang: It’s about how people gossip when they overhear something, without knowing the truth. They spread the issue around and add their opinions. In the song, we say that people should confront one another in a straightforward way.
Student Weekly: Fang, can you describe your character in upcoming movie, Love Is?
Fang: It’s a romantic movie. I play a teacher who teaches children at Doi Mae Salong Mountain in Chiang Rai. Since the movie will be screened overseas, I sing Chinese songs and speak Chinese language in the movie.
Student Weekly: Kaew, what is your upcoming TV drama, Sap Sang [Mystery Theatre], about?
Kaew: My character is disguised as a traditional Chinese doctor. It’s a ghost series, so there are a lot of special effects. I also have to use my imagination a lot to think about ghost.
Student Weekly: Do you have any special message for your fans?
Kaew: We worked very hard on our new album. Please try to learn our latest dance moves. The new album will be cuter than before, and the songs will be easy to sing along with. Thank you so much for waiting for us!
