Motorcycle thieves caught
Nonthaburi police arrested 15 people, aged between 13 and 32, believed to be members of a motorcycle theft gang. Police also seized 10 stolen motorbikes. The suspects, who were caught on October 27, allegedly confessed to stealing motorcycles and then selling them for 5,000-8,000 baht each.
Six of the gang members were arrested in Talat Kwan sub-district of Muang district after police matched them with CCTV footage of a gang which had earlier stolen a motorcycle in front of a 7-Eleven store in Tha Sai sub-district.

Safety net bill passed
The National Legislative Assembly has passed a bill calling for the establishment of a state organisation to provide a better social safety net, regardless of nationality or race, authorities said on October 30.
The agency, under the Department of Social Development and Welfare, will ensure equal administration of welfare services including housing, vocational training and health care.
The bill was passed unanimously with 190 supporting votes and is now awaiting formal passage into law, NLA member Somchai Sawangkarn said, adding that the bill will give better protection to underprivileged people.

New rule
Vendors to operate only at night
Street vendors on Bangkok’s Silom Road will be banned during the daytime. Authorities announced the news on October 29. Vendors will only be allowed to operate from 7 pm to 2 am.
