UPCOMING MOVIES

Drama/Comedy: PEOPLE I KNOW (August 15, 2003) Hollywood veteran Al Pacino plays a mover-and-shaker who is at the end of his tether and his career. Things turn even worse when he gets involved with a secret drugs den and witnesses an event that will change his life forever. What event? Go see the movie to find out, dummy.

Romance: DOWN WITH LOVE (August 15, 2003) previewed in this issue.

Thriller: FEMME FATALE (August 15, 2003) A beautiful seductress (Rebecca Romjin-Stamos - last seen as Mystique in X-Men 2) betrays her friends during a diamond robbery in Paris and disappears to America. Later she returns to Paris and tricks Latino heartthrob Antonio Banderas in another con. Got bad reviews but worth checking out if you're a fan of the stars.

Horror/Science Fiction: HYPERCUBE: CUBE 2 (August 19, 2003) In this sequel to the 1999 hit, eight strangers wake up within a bizarre cube in which every door leads to more cubes, some of which are equipped to kill. As they explore their strange habitat, the prisoners realise that they now inhabit a place where the laws of physics no longer apply. Not unlike the Student Weekly elevator system.

NEWLY RELEASED VCDs/DVDs

Action: DAREDEVIL If you didn't see it in the cinema, shame on you. One of the better adaptations of a comic book hero, this is the story of Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck), the son of a boxer who gets killed by criminals. This drives young Matt to fight crime even though he's blind. If that sounds far-fetched, how about a man who turns big and green when he's angry?

Action/Comedy: SHANGHAI KNIGHTS You either love them or hate them (answers on a postcard please) but you can't ignore them. After taming the Wild West in Shanghai Noon, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) and Roy OBannon (Owen Wilson) are back in the saddle, but this time theyre out to settle a score in London. Predictable but fun.

Comedy/Romance: JUST MARRIED Chance brings Tom (Ashton Kutcher) and Sarah (Brittany Murphy) into each other's lives. They quickly fall in love and get married. That's when things start to go wrong. The ultimate test of their trust comes when each reveals a secret that threatens to end their relationship.
