It's show time

Star power and cabaret styles make this soap ready for prime time

Reviewed by Suwitcha Chaiyong

Adorable, fabulous and dazzling are the slogans for the Nang Show (Showgirl). And parts of the show are exactly what it says it is.  That's because it is produced by Warayut Milintachinda, who is well known for making soaps with spectacular settings and costumes.

Nang Show is no exception. In fact, Nang Show's costumes and bar settings are the most interesting part of this soap. Of course there are also a lot of good actresses on this show, and that should be enough to make you want to tune in.

Old contents, new costumes

Nang Show is about of a group of showgirls trying to survive in show business by working in a nightclub. The show focuses on Sri Tong (played by Ann Thongprasom) and her four best friends - Malin (Jitala Sukkapat), Mount (Warayut Milinjinda), Prim (Suwatjanee Chaimusik) and Jit (Ranya Siyanon). It follows the group's friendships, their love affairs and their competitions with other showgirls.

Although a producer of Nang Show tries claim his show offers something different ) from other soaps (cabaret style shows and showgirl characters), the content still involves the same old soap basics like love triangle, deceit and revenge.

Fortunately, a group of stars - especially, Sri Tong's best friends - do a great job at spicing up the soap. Whenever these five actresses are together in a scene, the soap is guaranteed to be fun. And almost as important, the ladies look believable playing the part of nightclub showgirls.

The most admirable actress must be Jitala, who plays Malin, an experienced showgirl who has problems with her ex-lover. Jitala left her old image as the nice woman behind, and has become a tough showgirl who has a sharp tongue and never gives up on anything.

If you want to watch nightlife that you probably don't have a chance to see for yourself, Nang Show brings a nightclub to your room. The plot is sometimes boring, but whenever viewers see gorgeous superstars dancing together as showgirls, it is sure to be adorable, fabulous and dazzling - just as advertised. Check it out at 8:15 p.m. Mondays and Tuesdays on Channel 3.
