Man dies while stealing cables
A man was electrocuted at a solar power plant in Ayutthaya while he was apparently trying to steal electrical cables, police said. The incident took place on January 4.
Noppadol Kamnuandej, 32, of Lat Bua Luang district, was found dead at the Yanhee Solar Power Company in Sena district. A sack that contained stolen electrical wires and tools to cut cables was found next to the body. A security guard said the suspect must have cut into one of the live wires.
DANGEROUS DRUGS
40,000 speed pills seized
Two men were arrested with 40,000 methamphetamine pills after a shootout with police and soldiers on a highway in Phichit province on January 2.
When officers tried to pull over a Nakhon Pathom-registered pickup truck that matched the description they were given, the vehicle sped away. One of the two men in the pickup opened fire, prompting officers to return fire and give chase.
The men were forced to stop in Wang Mok sub-district. They were identified as Somphot Sripoempoon, 32, and Ponphan Supakijkosol, 40. Ponphan was wounded after being shot in the right shoulder.

Three men injured in bus crash
A public bus crashed into several vehicles. It happened on Charoen Krung Road in Bangkok on January 2. Three people were injured. The driver admitted that he fell asleep at the wheel.
