Did you know

Woo Bin sang the theme song of the movie Twenty with boy band Sweet Sorrow.

After playing his breakthrough role of bad boy Choi Young Do in the 2013 TV series The Heirs, Korean star Kim Woo Bin became a heart-throb throughout Asia.

With his huge popularity, the 25-year-old actor took on a lead role in the blockbuster action movie, Friend: The Great Legacy, for which he was nominated for best new actor at the Baeksang Arts Awards and the Blue Dragon Film Awards. More recently, Woo Bin dropped his bad boy image to star in the comedy movie, Twenty.

FLYING VISIT

Woo Bin recently took a break from acting to meet with Thai press and his Woori Bin fan club at a press conference held at Siam Discovery on March 7. The following day, the charismatic star attended his Moment of Kim Woo Bin in Thailand: Let’s Make Eye Contact fan meeting at Thunder Dome.

MAKING CONTACT

At his fan meeting, Woo Bin sang some beautiful songs, and even made coffee for a few lucky fans. At one point, Woo Bin welcomed Thai actors Son Yuke and Tina Suppanad to the stage as special guests. The guests played a game where they had to guess information about Woo Bin. Son Yuke won the game.

The slightly tired-looking Woo Bin perked up after watching a fan-made video and receiving some heartfelt messages from Thai Woori Bin. Becoming energetic and with a big smile, the star spent some time expressing his thanks to his Thai fans. Woo Bin said that Thailand had became a country he loved and felt closer to over time. Because fans told him in the video to take care of himself, Woo Bin asked his fans to stay healthy as well. The event ended happily after everybody in the hall got to high-five with the star.

Woo Bin answered questions at both his press conference and fan meeting. Here is some of what the star had to say.

Question: Was it difficult for the producers of The Heirs to somebody like you who could play the character of Choi Young Do?

Woo Bin: I don’t think so. The scriptwriter created a fantastic script, so the actors just say it out loud and the viewers loved it.

Question: Why do you think people liked Young Do so much?

Woo Bin: The scriptwriter created a detailed character. When he confessed his feelings, he did it frankly. Viewers could also relate to the character because he loved his mom. And many viewers probably have a crush on somebody like him.

Question: In real life, are you more like your cute or bad boy characters?

Woo Bin: I don’t think I’m cute. I’m more chilled out and playful.

Question: In the movie, The Con Artists, which was more difficult for you — the shower scene or the action scenes?

Woo Bin: The shower scene was difficult. I had to exercise before filming. Actors usually read their script on the set, but I had to exercise while the crew prepared to film the shower scene.

Question: Can you tell us about your latest movie, Twenty?

Woo Bin: Twenty is about three guys who are best friends. People who are around 20 years old will find the film funny. For older people, the movie will remind them what it was like when they were that age. We had great fun while filming. The characters in the movie are different from what viewers are used to seeing. It’s a really fun film.

Question: What were you like when you were 20 years old?

Woo Bin: Many people start studying at university around that age, but for me it was the time I started working as a model. It was a job that I’d always wanted to do.

Question: Have you kept in touch with your friends from that time?

Woo Bin: They’re my best friends, and we still meet one another often.

Question: How do you feel about being one of the four Hallyu Kings, or top Korean stars to succeed internationally?

Woo Bin: I don’t feel qualified for that, but I’d like to thank everybody by working as hard as I can.

Question: What do you do to relieve your stress?

Woo Bin: I like to watch movies or draw pictures.
