Four years on from their last release, local rock band Over Me are back with a new guitarist and their new EP, Doublethink 101. The band released this EP independently and are now doing everything themselves without the help of a record label.

This EP features five new songs, plus an acoustic bonus track. The band’s new guitarist makes his mark with a clearer guitar sound than on their previous releases. The music on Doublethink 101 is altogether rawer and more intense than before. Where Over Me’s past music was a bit funky, their new songs a more in the style of hard rock. The lyrics for the songs tell stories from a unique perspective.

Doublethink 101 features a few guest musicians, including Singto Numchoke, who plays some nice acoustic guitar. Although this EP shows that Over Me have changed a bit since their last release, it still retains enough of the band’s signature style to keep their fans happy. — VH
