Bram Stoker’s original Dracula novel was first published in 1897.

Directed by Gary Shore, Dracula Untold is an exciting new American fantasy action film about the origins of Count Dracula.

The year is 1462, and Transylvania has enjoyed a long period of peace under the rule of Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia (Luke Evans), and his brave wife Mirena (Sarah Gadon). Together, they have made peace for their country and ensured its people are well protected from the powerful Ottoman Empire, which has its sights set on global domination.

When Sultan Mehmed II (Dominic Cooper) demands 1,000 of Wallachia’s boys, including Vlad’s own son, to become child soldiers in his army, Vlad must decide whether to give up his son to the sultan, or seek the help of a monster to defeat the Turks, but ultimately doom his soul to a life of servitude.

Vlad journeys to Broken Tooth Mountain, where he encounters a demon (Charles Dance) who offers a deal that gives the prince the strength of 100 men, the speed of a falling star and enough power to crush his enemies. However, in return he will be inflicted with an insatiable thirst for human blood.

If in three days Vlad manages to resist drinking blood, he will return to his former self. If not, he will be forced to live in darkness for the rest of his days, feeding on the blood of humans.

Catch the action, drama and fantasy when Dracula Untold hits local cinemas on October 16.
