National parks closed during rainy season

Key tourist attractions in eight national parks have been closed temporarily to minimise risks that tourists face from weather-related accidents.

The National Park, Wildlife and Plant Conservation Department reported on April 2 that heavy storms have led to swollen waterfalls and resulted in high sea levels in parts of both northern and southern Thailand.

Nopphadol Briksavan, acting director of the department�s National Park Office, said that the areas will stay closed until the cool season begins in September.

Teen crime on the rise

Teenage crime is a growing cause for concern with many people aged 15 to 18 showing criminal tendencies, according to a government survey of juvenile delinquents.

Tawatchai Thaikiew from the Juvenile Observation and Protection Department said on April 2 that 50,767 teenagers committed offences last year.
