Hole horror

Man files complaint

A 46-year-old Briton has lodged a complaint against authorities after falling into an open drainage hole in Pathum Thani province on September 1.

Rescue workers from Pathum Thani Hospital, who helped Paul John Miller at the scene, said he was trapped in a 3 metre drain left open in the footpath. He sustained abrasions around his torso.

Paul later lodged a complaint with local police. Paul’s companion said there was no warning sign at the scene.

Bad drivers face ban

Drivers across the country who have their driving licences revoked will be barred from re-applying for a new one for three years, in accordance with a new regulation from the Department of Land Transport.

The three-year ban went into effect on September 1. The aim of the ban was to keep reckless drivers off the roads and to help prevent road accidents, LTD official Suchart Klinsuwan said.

After the ban is over, a person re-applying for a licence must also take a new driving test, officials said.

Pollution problem

Haze hits southern Thailand

Haze covered several parts of Yala and Pattani on September 2. The haze was caused by a forest fire in Sumatra Island, Indonesia. Authorities warned residents to avoid exposure to dust particles.
