Spotlight Amazing abodeRising star Nink finds her home ever so sweet By Suwitcha Chaiyong Did You Know : The White House in Washington D.C. has 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms and three elevators. Upon entering the lush grounds of Laddawan Village, located behind Dhurakijpundit University on Prachachuen Road, we drove around for a bit before stopping in front of the grand, beautiful house at 424/2. No, Student Weekly wasnt looking to move from our palatial and royal-like grounds in the oasis that is Klong Toey, we were there to visit the home of 13-year-old Piampiti Hattakitkosol (Nink), a rising star known for her hit song Mee R Kann (Have a Sign). NOT TOO SHABBYNow, working every day in one Bangkoks most plush work environments, you would think it would be hard to impress us here at Student Weekly. True, but Ninks family home is truly impressive. My family and I just moved from our old house on Silom Road to this one about two years ago, Nink said while showing us around the place. Her family found the pollution around Silom too much to take and were looking for something a bit more peaceful. Their new house, which sits on 2 rai of land, is certainly that and then some. The house has more than 10 rooms and comes with a large swimming pool, a jacuzzi, a sauna, a library and Ninks favourite room, her personal dance and music studio. I come to the studio every day, Nink said. At the old house, I had to share my studio area with another room, but in this house the room is separate. It is also very nice. The studio features a wrap-around window on three of the walls so there is plenty of light and people can see Nink practising her moves. On the fourth wall is a huge dance studio mirror so Nink can see her own performances. Beneath the mirror sit a row of acoustic and electric guitars. Nink and her older sister come to the studio every day after school where they learn to dance, sing, play the violin, guitar and piano. BEAUTIFUL BEDROOMWhen shes not in her studio, Nink enjoys sitting on a small swing in her lush garden reading books. I like to read any kind of book, whether its in Thai or English, said the seventh grade student at International School of Bangkok. Apart from her studio and garden, Nink said she likes to spend time in her bedroom, which she decorated her-self. I asked my parents for a bed that has curtains on it. I got the idea from a book. It said that princesses sleep in this type of bed, Nink said with a laugh. Ninks bedroom is very clean and bright with its pure white theme. Her dolls Hello Kitties, Snoopies, pandas and Betty Boops are all neatly organised on a shelf. Although the house has housekeepers to take care of most things, Nink said she still has to be responsible for her room. I have to keep things in place and clean it up a bit, Nink said. Throughout the tour, we were joined by Ninks two Persian cats Aragorn and Arwen. Nink said they were named after the characters from The Lord of the Rings movies. Aragorn and Arwen have their own handmade house out in the garden. It seems not only celebrities live the high life, but their cats do too. All in all, Ninks house wasnt bad for a place outside Klong Toey. In fact, not bad at all. Vocabulary abode (n): the place where somebody lives
