Guangzhou, the capital city of China’s Guangdong province, boasts a great number of tourist attractions and cultural sites. The city is also famed for its Cantonese cuisine.
For This week’s Freeze Frame, SW takes a look at some of the highlights of Guangzhou.
The world’s largest statute of the Goddess of Mercy is located in central Guangzhou. In 1994, the 40-metre high statute was cast with 120 tonnes of bronze and 180 taels of gold. |
Visitors can get a great view of the city from Canton Tower, which is 449 metres tall. |
Guangdong Museum exhibits bronze statues, artworks, traditional costumes as well as dinosaur fossils found in the city. |
The Five Rams sculpture situated in Yuexiu Park is the symbol of Guangzhou. |
