Did you know

Hyuna from K-pop group 4Minute is Gavin’s favourite singer.

With her new perm, dyed hair, ripped jeans and sneakers, actress Pimchanok Luevisadpaibul (Baifern) was almost unrecognisable at the recent press conference for her new film, Cat a Wabb!.

For Cat a Wabb! , the pretty 22-year-old actress changed her look to play Mayo, a student trainee working for an advertising company. Her first task as a trainee is to take care of Johnny, a famous cat that is due to star in a big TV commercial. This job also allows Mayo to get closer to her secret crush, Mor (Pae Arak), but things get complicated when she somehow loses the cat.

Student Weekly recently caught up with Baifern to ask her all about the making of Cat a Wabb!, which is due to open at local cinemas on March 4.

Student Weekly: How did this film project come about?

Baifern: I got offered a part in the film around the middle of last year. I read the script and really liked it, so I accepted the role right away. The production was very quick. We started shooting a couple of months ago and now it’s all finished.

Student Weekly: What is the meaning of the title, Cat a Wabb?

Baifern: It means missing cat, which is basically the story of the movie. [Laughs.] The celebrity cat that my character is responsible for disappears, and all the messy situations concerning work and relationships start from that.

Student Weekly: What is your character in the movie like?

Baifern: I play Mayo, a university student who is working as an intern at an advertising company. Mayo is a dreamer who is falling in love with Mor, an assistant director at the same company.

Like a lot of young girls, Mayo spends most of her time in front of a computer screen checking Facebook and posting questions about love and relationships on forums like Pantip.

Student Weekly: Did you enjoy playing this character?

Baifern: Yes. I could relate to Mayo’s personality a lot because we’re around the same age. We’re both students who have to take part in trainee programmes. But Mayo is more of a dreamer than I am. She’s very cute, shy and charming in a unique way. I think a lot of girls will like this character.

Student Weekly: What do you think of your new look in the film?

Baifern: It’s different. Mayo is a bit like a hipster who wears sneakers and accessories like necklaces, bracelets and rings. I don’t normally dress like that in real life, but many of my friends and fans seem to love this new look, which is cool.

Student Weekly: Have you ever had a secret crush on a guy like Mayo does in the film?

Baifern: Of course! Who hasn’t? [Laughs.] I used to be very fond of a boy at school. But I usually got very nervous when I saw him, so I always tried to avoid meeting him.

Student Weekly: What was it like working with Johnny the cat in the film?

Baifern: There are many cats featured in the film, but the main one is Johnny. Johnny is a famous cat on the Internet, and is known for being dressed up in different costumes. Johnny is a big, chubby cat. I found out that working with cats is extremely difficult because they’re hard to train. They can be very moody sometimes, too. I think I’m more of a dog person! [Laughs.]
