Arranged by Film Archive (Public Organization), the Salaya International Documentary Film Festival 5 features documentaries from many different countries including the US, Norway, Taiwan and Japan. Here are some of the festival highlights:

The Look of Silence

Directed by Joshua Oppenheimer and an anonymous director, this Grand Jury Prize-winner at the Venice Film Festival is about survivors of genocide in Indonesia.

No Word for Worry

This Norwegian documentary is about the Moken ethnic group of fishermen in Southeast Asia. Hook is a Moken who is trying to save his traditional culture.

The Wages of Resistance: Narita Stories

This film takes viewers back 40 years before Japan’s famous Narita Airport was built. The airport project was protested by farmers at that time.
