Footpath failure
A section of a footpath on Rama III Road near Khlong Bang Khlo in Bangkok collapsed on April 2 after land beneath it subsided after years of land erosion along the banks of the canal.

Drug mule caught
A man was caught on April 3 smuggling 30,000methamphetamine pills from Chiang Rai province to Bangkok. Police arrested Along Beseku, a 22-year-old Muser hill tribe man, while his baggage was undergoing an X-ray check at Mae Fa Luang airport.
Police found 30,000 speed pills hidden inside his bag. He allegedly told police that he was paid 80,000 baht by a drug gang in Mae Chan district of Chiang Rai to deliver the drugs to a trafficker at Suvarnabhumi airport.

Encroaching suspects charged
Wildlife officials will press charges against 116 suspects for allegedly encroaching on Thap Lan National Park. The group has been accused of occupying about 1,000 rai of forest land in Thai Samakki district and Wang Nam Khieo district, according to Thap Lan National Parks official Nuwat Lilaphata.
During an inspection of the area on April 3, Nuwat’s team found three more areas in Thai Samakki district where a new resort was being built. The officials will check whether or not the locations are within the area of the national park.

A US tourist fell from the 25th floor of a condominium. It happened in Pattaya on the night of April 1. Police found a suicide note on his body. Police are investigating whether he committed suicide or whether he was murdered.
