Handsome Chayapol Bunnag (Aun) was discovered by the well-known director Poj Arnon while he was at a restaurant with his mother and sister. His roles in the 2009 comedy horror movies Sassy Player and Haunting Me impressed the executives at Channel 7. Since then, Aun has played different kinds of characters in several TV series.
His fame increased after his natural performance as a bad guy in the TV drama Look Mai Lak Sri (Offspring). More recently, he was a main character in the popular series Koo Woon Loon Plan Rak (Trouble Couple) and is currently starring in Hor Heo Khon Hua Look (Haunted Dorm).
Student Weekly met up with the 23-year-old actor at Channel 7 where he told us about his most challenging role and an experience that gave him goosebumps.
Student Weekly: Is it true that you were shy when you were young?
Aun: Yes, I often looked at the floor and wouldn't look into people's eyes. I was too shy to sing in public or even in front of my family. My mother took me to see a psychologist. He helped me to develop my confidence.
Student Weekly: Why did you decide to become an actor?
Aun: I used to dream about being a professional football player so I didn't want to audition when Poj Arnon asked me to. But my mom told me that it was a good opportunity.
Student Weekly: How do you feel about your acting career so far?
Aun: I've come much further than I expected. I really enjoyed being on the Sassy Player movie set but I thought it would be my only movie. I didn't think that I'd be working at Channel 7, with veteran actors that I've been watching on TV since I was young.
Student Weekly: Which has been your most challenging role so far?
Aun: Playing a bad guy in Offspring was but stressful. When we were filming the show at a market, I was happy to hear people say that they hated my character. It meant that they were really enjoying the drama.
Student Weekly: What was it like to work with Kwan Usamanee in Trouble Couple?
Aun: It was great. Unlike some big actors, she didn't act like she was a star. She talked with me like I was a friend. We had a lot of fun on set.
Student Weekly: Is the atmosphere on the set of Haunted Dorm scary?
Aun: Not at all. Everybody who works on the show makes the job fun, and we laugh and smile a lot. I love going to work.
Student Weekly: Have you ever had any spooky experiences?
Aun: When I was in the reality show, La Ta Pee (Ghost Challenge), we went to a haunted house where seven people had died. After watching the show, my friend, a neighbour and a monk told me that they saw a woman with me, but I never saw her. I was scared and made merit at a temple. Nobody ever saw her again.
Student Weekly: What would you do if you lived in a scary building like in Haunted Dorm?
Aun: I'd die! I'm really afraid of ghosts and the dark.
