In brief: Ricky Hatton�s father and grandfather played for Manchester City Football Club, but Ricky decided to take up boxing because he found the sport more enjoyable.
Ricky�s coach named him �The Hitman� after he saw Ricky step into the ring at the age of 10.
His first professional fight in 1997 was against Colin McAuley. Ricky won by a knockout in the first round.
From 2000 onwards, Ricky has moved back and forth between Welterweight and Light Welterweight divisions.
His most recent fight was against Juan Lazcano on May 24. Ricky won the fight in front of a home-town crowd of 55,000 people at the City of Manchester Stadium.
