Samut Prakan floods

A surge of sea-water triggered floods and traffic jams in several parts of Samut Prakan province on November 5. Motorists and residents battled high waters, which in some parts reached one metre high.

Flood waters spilled across roads and into residential areas after the sea level in the Gulf of Thailand rose, causing the Chao Phraya River to overflow.

Vendors and operators end violence

Klong Toey fresh market vendors and the market's new operator have agreed to end the violence that had been going on since last year.

The agreement was reached on November 5 after five hours of talks at the Port Authority of Thailand.

Market vendor representative Prayot Suepasook said that the group was satisfied with the negotiations.

It was agreed that the two sides would hold talks rather than resort to violence over disputes.

The market operator also agreed not to send security guards to patrol the area, while the vendors said that they would allow the company's staff to clean the market.

Trouble spots

Study shows city at risk

There was a recent survey about dangerous areas in Bangkok. The survey showed that there are more than 5,000 dangerous crime areas.

After the survey, police official Anan Srihiran held a meeting. The meeting was on November 6.

Police talked about high-risk crime spots.
