Did you know

Seung Heon starred in the 2010 Japanese movie Ghost: In Your Arms Again.

Back in 2000, Song Seung Heon was a pioneer of the Korean wave when he played the part of the sweet brother Joon Suh in the heartbreaking hit TV drama, Autumn in My Heart. Since then, the 37-year-old actor has been known to his Thai fans as a warm-hearted brother, though he has played other characters in various TV shows including East of Eden, My Princess and Dr. Jin.

During his recent fan meeting and press interview in Thailand, Seung Heon showed that he’s also nice and generous in real life. After the interview, he pleased the press by changing his shirt so that photographers could take different sets of photos.

KISS AND TELL

On January 25, the Song Seung Heon Sawasdee Krab Thailand Fan Meeting was held at Scala Theatre.

During the interview session, Seung Heon answered a question from a fan who was curious to know how actors prepared for kissing scenes. Seung Heon said that actors generally shouldn’t eat anything before a scene like that.

Seung Heon also told a funny story about how he hated rats because when he was young, a rat suddenly got into his pants while he was running around with his friends.

SWEET STAR

At the event, Seung Heon had some fun playing games with his lucky fans, who also got to hug the star and take Polaroid photos with him.

At the end of the event, fans impressed the good-looking actor by showing him their special video. When he turned back to the audience, the star saw that many were holding up cards with “I Love You” and “Marry Me” written in Korean. Seung Heon was so moved that his eyes were filled with tears. Before leaving, the star shook hands with his happy fans.

On January 20, before his fan meeting, Seung Heon met Thai press at the Aetas Bangkok Hotel. Here is an excerpt from his long group interview.

Question: Did you know that many of your fans call you “brother” because of your character in Autumn in My Heart?

Seung Heon: I just found out about that, and I feel happy and honoured. I thought that Thai people normally called every guy “brother.” At home, I’m the youngest, so I don’t have a chance to hear anybody call me brother. I hope I’ll be called that forever.

Question: Have you prepared anything special for your Thai fans during this visit?

Seung Heon: I’ve visited Thailand couple times, but I’ve never had a chance to get close to my fans. I’m here to film a movie for a week, and I’ll also be holding my first fan meeting in Thailand. I’m happy to meet my Thai fans. I haven’t prepared much, but I’ll speak about my personnel life and other things that my fans would like to know.

Question: In real life, are you similar to the romantic characters you play on TV?

Seung Heon: Viewers think of me as a nice, romantic guy from the TV shows. But those characters are different from me. I’m shy and not good at expressing my feelings. But if I had a girlfriend, I’m sure that I’d be dedicated and sincere with her.

Question: How do you decide which shows or movies you want to work on?

Seung Heon: I read the scripts before making a decision. If a script looks fun, I’ll agree to work on it. The script has to be able to communicate well and convince viewers to get into the story.

Question: How do you feel about your cheerful character in My Princess, which was different from the usual characters you play?

Seung Heon: I usually play serious and cool characters, as everybody knows. My Princess was my first romantic comedy and my character was bright and cheerful. Compared to my other characters, his personality is closer to mine, although I don’t have a wealthy family background like the character.

Question: How do you cheer yourself up when you feel desperate?

Seung Heon: My body might feel exhausted sometimes, but I’ve never felt desperate. When I feel tired, I try not to think too much or stress out. I usually call friends that I’ve known since I was very young. They don’t think of me as a famous actor, so I can relax when I hang out with them.

Question: What type of girls are you interested in?

Seung Heon: I like gentle girls that I can communicate with. I used to have a serious relationship and thought about marriage, but it didn’t work out well. I’m very serious about relationships. I never fool around.

Question: How do you take care of your good looks?

Seung Heon: I don’t have any special tips. But I once read an interview with a famous director who said that health is the most important thing. It made me realise that we can’t buy good health. Money and property aren’t as important as staying healthy.

Question: What are your future plans?

Seung Heon: I recently worked on a movie called Human Addiction, which will be released in April. I hope it will be successful.

Before I came here, I as interviewed on a TV show called Sat Zone. They asked me to choose which Thai actresses I’d like to work with, and I said that I’d like to work on a film or TV drama with Aum Patcharapa, Pancake and Mai Davika.
