Rock duo makes fans feel at home
Sqweez Animal have enough charm to draw a varied mix of fans to their concerts. Frontman Win Sirivongse, 28, and 24-year-old guitarist Prachatip Musigapong (Singha) mesmerise fans with their musical skill and intriguing personalities.
A popular womans magazine even named the guys as two of the countrys coolest and most charming bachelors. They also won the 2007 Fat Award for best duo and album of the year.
After playing numerous gigs over the past year, Sqweez Animal are ready to give their fans something more unusual and intimate with their upcoming Home Sqweez Home concert on May 24.
TIME TO CELEBRATE
Home Sqweez Home is a concert to celebrate their recently released debut album, Art Young Mai Sai (It May Not Be Too Late).
We want to celebrate the albums release, so were inviting our friends and fans to have a party with us at the concert, Win said.
The duo didnt want the event to be just another gig, so they came up with an idea to make the performance really special.
The concert will be homey, with a small audience of around 1,200 people, Win said. The stage will be decked out like our bedrooms.
GETTING PERSONAL
The duo picked Zen Gallery at Central World for their gig because it has a cozy ambience.
Zen is perfect for an event that combines a gig, party and exhibition, Win said. The stage is very low, so the audience will feel close to us.
The guys already know that Zen is a great venue.
We played a gig there once before, Singha said. The gallery is surrounded by glass windows and we had a fantastic view of Bangkok at night.
Aside from hearing some great music at the concert, the audience can get to know the guys by checking out some of their personnel belongings in the exhibition area.
Therell be an exhibition of our personnel stuff, Singha said. We normally dont bring these things out of our home its just stuff that our friends see when they come over.
GUEST LIST
The concert gives Sqweez Animal a chance to look back over the years that led up to their current success.
Our set list will feature about 20 songs that tell the story of how we became Sqweez Animal, Win said. Ron Nai, the band I formed with Gene Mahasamut a few years ago, will play again. Well also play songs weve never done before like Juup [Kiss] with hip hop band Doo Ja Da.
The concert will feature a long list of guests, including famous friends like Pae Yokee Playboy, Buddha Bless and Slur guitarist Pae Arak. Sqweez Animal are determined to make the event a night to remember.
We have a lot of songs, but were not going to play music continuously, Singha said. The gig will be presented in a creative way so that the audience doesnt get bored.
SOMETHING DIFFERENT
Sqweez Animal are looking forward to a fun gig, and competition from Bee The Star, playing the same week, doesnt worry them.
Our audience is different, and our concert will be unique, Singha said. A lot of our fans said that they missed our gigs because they had exams, so now they have a chance to see us.
