Sorcerer saves city from evil

• Did you know •
The Sorcerer's Apprentice is based on part of Disney's classic 1940 movie Fantasia.

Walt Disney Pictures' latest comedy adventure is The Sorcerer's Apprentice, a film about a sorcerer and his hapless helper who are somehow swept into the middle of an ancient conflict between good and evil.

Balthazar Blake (Nicolas Cage) is a master sorcerer in modern-day Manhattan trying to defend the city from his arch-enemy, Maxim Horvath (Alfred Molina).

Balthazar soon discovers that he can't do it alone, so he recruits Dave Stutler (Jay Baruchel) as his reluctant protégé. Dave is a seemingly average guy who demonstrates hidden potential, so the sorcerer gives his unwilling accomplice a crash course in the art and science of magic.

Working together, the unlikely partners pit their powers against one of the fiercest and most ruthless villains of all time.

Catch the action, humour and magic when The Sorcerer's Apprentice hits cinemas on July 22.
