Letter of the week

CH-CH-CH-CH-CH CHANGES

My nickname is Pai, and I'm 14 years old. My school life is very different from my mind. Since I was young, I was alone, and nobody wanted to play with me because I was a new guy around here. But guys like Joe, Game and Earth were friendly to me.

My school life used to be boring, but in Matayom 3 I transferred to a new room. In that room everybody was a good person. I enjoyed the time I spent with them.

We did many things together. We played together. We studied together. We had fun together. We were sad together.

Every moment will be a precious memory forever, but every party has to end. Last year my friends moved to other schools — one even moved to Bangkok. They're following their dreams. It's a good thing to follow your dreams.

I think that we'll have less time to spend together. Anyway, just because we've moved apart doesn't mean we've changed our relationships. We are best friends forever.

Panitan Chaichuay,
Lampang

Lots of people go through transitions when they face not having many (or any) friends, Pai. Usually these periods don't last too long — as you discovered. It's when we make those new connections that we really appreciate the friendships that develop. Inevitably, people move out of your life, and you're not as close as you used to be. But usually new people move into your life for you to have new experiences with. They can never take the place of your old friends (nor should they) but they open up whole worlds of new experiences that will hopefully be fulfilling and rewarding. — Editor

WINTER MEMORIES

December, for me, is the sign of goodbye — packing all those lovely memories into my big thick album. While January is the time to say hello to the coming new year, wishing for happiness and success in everything we desire.

Some people spend time on reflection and introspection on their year, looking for improvements, better income in the future as well as relaxing at Christmastime.

I think one year spins very fast, and there is a lot more to seek out in daily life!

Teera Siribunsuk,
Bangkok

The end of the year certainly can be a joyous time, Teera. It can also be very stressful. That usually happens when you get older, so you've got a bit of time to find out about that aspect of the holidays. With all of the social and work commitments that I had to be part of in December and early January, I'm glad the holidays are over. At least until Songkran. — Editor

MORE WINTER MEMORIES

There are a lot of special days throughout the year. I like the ones at the end of the year the most. During that time it is a good atmosphere to enjoy with my family.

At the end of the year, it is not only the beginning of winter, but also the beginning of Christmas and New Year's. Besides my far relatives will be back to visit my family and take us around town to treat us to special meals. I think it is such a fantastic time that it will stay in my memory forever.

Although we don't have many days during the holidays with our family, it is worth spending time with those who you think are the most important to you.

Sudacharoen Bunrungruangphakorn,
Udon Thani

Well, it seems like the holidays are definitely on the minds of our dear readers, Sudacharoen. The beginning of the new year is a great time to reflect on the year that's past and also to reconnect with family and friends whom you might not have got to see in a while. And now it's time to face the coming year with anticipation and hope. — Editor
