Did you know
The band that Kacha would most like to see live is Scorpions.
When he was on Academy Fantasia back in 2011, singer Nontanun Anchuleepradit (Kacha) was one of the viewers’ favourite stars, especially when he teamed up with his AF buddy Tao Sattaphong. After winning third prize on the show, Kacha took on several different showbiz roles, from releasing singles to acting in television programmes and stage plays.
Recently, the 24-year-old star returned to music with the release of his emotional new ballad, “Tha Roo Kor Kong Mai Bok (If I Know, I Won’t Tell You).” The song, about a guy who regrets admitting to having a crush on somebody, has a melody written by Kacha. The singer has been busy promoting the single and preparing to perform with Tao Sattaphong once again at the upcoming Tao Kacha Let’s Fight Concert in November.
Student Weekly recently met up with Kacha at the AF office, where he told us about his music and his other showbiz experiences.
Student Weekly: How long did it take you to write the melody for “If I Know, I Won’t Tell You”?
Kacha: I like emotional songs, so I wanted to write a melody for a ballad. It took me around four hours turn the melody in my head into piano chords. After that, during my free time, I worked on improving the melody. I initially wrote lyrics for the song as well, but they weren’t approved by my music team.
Student Weekly: What would you do if you had an experience like the person in the song?
Kacha: I had similar experience before, so I understand the song well. If I faced that kind of situation again, I’d tell her how I feel because I’d feel uncomfortable if I didn’t. Communication helps people to understand one another. Even if the outcome wasn’t what I expected, at least I’d understand how she felt about me.
Student Weekly: Which of your concerts has impressed you the most so far?
Kacha: It’s difficult to pick one. I’m impressed with every gig and they all give me different feelings. I felt most excited at my first big concert with Tao Sattaphong. At the time, I had no idea how big the concert and audience would be, but it went smoothly.
Student Weekly: Are you a fan of Korean group Exo, since you went to their concert?
Kacha: No, but I was curious to know why they have so many loyal fans. The concert had great production and design, and the group has strong teamwork. Each member of Exo also has individual charm and talent.
Student Weekly: What was Tao like when you guys first met?
Kacha: He looked like a well mannered man of few words. But he actually likes to tease people, and so do I. Whenever we meet, we always make fun of each other.
Student Weekly: How will the upcoming Tao Kacha Let’s Fight Concert differ from your previous performances?
Kacha: At every concert so far we’ve been buddies that support each other. But for this show, we will battle each other with singing, dancing and other activities. It should be fun and different from what we’ve done before.
Student Weekly: Since you host the Cine Pop TV programme about movies, what kind of films do you like?
Kacha: I used to feel stressed out after I seeing a dramatic movies, so I enjoy fantasy movies the most. They’re spectacular and fun.
Student Weekly: What’s your favourite film?
Kacha: The Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. My friend told me that the movies couldn’t include all the details that are in the books, so I decided to read them. I’m interested in the character of Boromir the most. He was killed in the first movie, but I wonder what it would’ve been like if he wasn’t murdered and became a good character.
Student Weekly: Are you interested in acting?
Kacha: Yes. It’s a good opportunity for me to work with an acting coach, and more people can get to know me through acting. I find acting is fun because the more I perform, the more I become the character. I felt that way when I was in the stage play Wawoon 2013 Scene Yon Yook Tae Mook Tansamai [Retro Scene, Modern Gag].
Student Weekly: Do you have any special message for your listeners?
Kacha: Please check out my new single, “If I Know, I Won’t Tell You.” I’m excited to find out if listeners like my melody. Good feedback has made me happy, so thank you to everybody who likes my song!
