Forgive and forget?

Have you ever done something that you wish you hadn�t done afterwards? If so, then you�re not alone. In this week�s song, �Anyone Of Us,� Gareth Gates proves he�s just the same as you or me and asks for forgiveness for cheating on his girlfriend.

On this track, Gareth is pleading for his girlfriend to forgive him. He admits that he hasn�t been a great boyfriend. He tells us about his failures and calls himself a fool for treating her so badly.

From the song we learn that Gareth was attracted to another women and made a mistake. He knows he should have acted differently and stopped things, but he begs his girlfriend to understand that �anyone of us� can make such mistakes.

In the song, Gareth blames the �other woman� for making him unable to think straight. After offering to walk this other woman home, he forgot he already had a girlfriend. Gareth can�t stress enough that he was wrong and that the woman is not important to him. He loves his girlfriend and never meant to hurt her. He swears that he�s being truthful.

His girlfriend faces a difficult problem. Should she trust a guy who has lied to her and then tried to make his actions seem less bad by saying it can happen to anyone? What if he is tempted again? She needs to decide if Gareth has really learned by his mistakes or if he is just too young to give her the trust she needs. How would Gareth react if his girlfriend made a �stupid mistake�? Would he be willing to forgive and forget so easily?
