FASHION

Belting out a fashion statement

Belts are the must have fashion accessory of the moment

Story by Isabelle Joussemet

Student Weekly is proud to publish this article by our 16-year-old trainee, Isabelle Joussemet. Isabelle is studying at Bangkok Patana School.

Practically every month, teenagers are swept off their feet by the latest trends chosen for them by teen and fashion magazines. This month belts are in style. There are loads of styles ranging from hipster belts (a ladies belt worn with low trousers), straight belts (for both guys and girls and great with school uniforms) and loads more. Girls get the best selection of belts, but make sure you know the right one to wear. There are certain guidelines for a girl to follow to find the perfect belt and to wear it perfectly. Here are a few:

- The most flattering belt on anyone is the hipster belt.

- Thin belts work for thin girls and are a great way to show off your best features.

- Never buckle on the last hole. According to New York stylist Hayley Hill, you should wear a belt on one of the middle holes. If you cant, its the wrong size.

- If youre wearing a tucked-in shirt, avoid wearing a low-slung belt.

- A silver belt buckle goes with silver jewelry; a gold belt buckle goes with gold.

- If youre wearing a long rope belt or one with a free-moving tassel, the dangling part should hang to one side.
