Suspects face extra charge
Seven out of a total of 13 key suspects in the 12-billion-baht Klongchan Credit Union Cooperative (KCUC) embezzlement scandal faced an additional charge of falsifying the cooperative’s annual reports, authorities said on September 10.
According to the Department of Special Investigation, the suspects falsified the reports from 2009 until 2012.
The aim was to mislead KCUC members into thinking the cooperative was profitable when in reality it was plunging deep into the red because billions of baht had been embezzled.

Company supplies bad milk
Lampang-based U. M. Food Product Co., Ltd. supplied rotten milk to students at Ban Nam Lee School in Nan, a probe has found.
The Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives on September 8 said its probe panel found the company supplied milk which had gone off. It also found that the company is not a member of the quality school milk producers club.
The company had earlier been caught supplying milk that had gone bad to schools in Mae Hong Son’s Muang district.

ROYAL RIDE
Cyclists pedal for the King
About 50 cyclists took part in a 7,000 kilometre marathon. The marathon started in Bangkok on September 9. The marathon is for the King’s birthday anniversary on December 5.
