Did you know

Golf’s favourite sci-fi movie is District 9.

A fictional character with super powers often faces tragedy. In the romantic sci-fi TV series, Phoe Jai Hai Nai Pi Sat (Devil Lover), Pichaya Nitipaisalkul (Golf) plays a Japanese boy named Sora who has telekinesis — a special power to move objects using only his mind. Sora has a hard time when he’s young because he doesn’t know how to control his power. His father sends him to live with a Japanese scientist who trains him to use his telekinesis well. Sora then decides to leave Japan to find his parents in Bangkok.

While searching for his parents, Sora meets a pretty and lively girl, Pie, played by Charada Imraporn (Piglet), who helps him find parents. But will they be happy to see him return?

Student Weekly recently met up with the 28-year-old actor and producer of the series, Golf, and 20-year-old singer turned actress, Piglet, at the GMM 25 office. The actors, who have great chemistry both on and off screen, told us all about the new show.

Student Weekly: Golf, why did you choose Piglet to be the leading actress in Devil Lover?

Golf: I thought this series would probably be bought to be shown overseas. So, I chose actors who have international looks. Piglet’s appearance is similar to many Asian nationalities. She’s also a fresh face, so it’s easier to convince viewers to believe in her character.

Student Weekly: Piglet, do you enjoy acting?

Piglet: I like it. Acting was new to me and I didn’t expect it to be fun, but I was lucky to work with this great team. When we filmed in Kitakyushu, Japan, I wondered if I could make it because there was a time limit and my dialogues were very long. But Golf helped me out.

Student Weekly: Piglet, were you a fan of Golf’s music before working together?

Piglet: I listened to his songs because they were popular. His songs were fun. However, I imagined that he must be very strict and mature, but he’s actually goofy and laid-back. I’m comfortable with him.

Student Weekly: Golf, why do you like to tease Piglet?

Golf: All of the crew liked to tease her because she didn’t tease anybody back. Piglet is a dork. On set, she usually does two things — either laughing or sleeping.

Student Weekly: If you had telekinesis, what would you do?

Golf: I’d move all the street’s electricity wires and poles underground. In Thailand, electricity wires are too tangled. I’m afraid they may cause electric shocks, especially when it rains.

Piglet: I’d use the power for my routine activities, so I don’t have to walk or move.

Student Weekly: Why did you choose Rina Takeda to be in the series?

Golf: The Japanese team wanted to have a Japanese actor in the series. Rina was chosen because there were many action scenes. As an action star, she is very skilful at fighting. She was also in the film, Attack on Titan.

Student Weekly: How did you feel about working with the young actor, Mac Nattapat?

Golf: Great. He was very determined at work. I was surprised to see this seven-year-old kid acting naturally. But off the set, he’s naughty.

Student Weekly: Do you prefer action or drama scenes?

Golf: I like them both, but a dramatic scene is exhausting because I have to build up emotions from inside. When I finish a scene, the feeling is still there.

Piglet: I don’t have many action scenes. A dramatic scene is tiring, but I feel comfortable with drama more than comedy. My nature isn’t so funny.

Student Weekly: Golf, as a cultural ambassador of Kitakyushu, which place do you recommend to visit there?

Golf: In the downtown area, Kokura Castle is located next to a modern building, Riverwalk Kitakyushu. To mix modern and old style together is the charm of this city. And if you like nature, you should visit Hiraodai Countryside Park where features a lot of limestones on a hill. I’ve never seen anything like that before. And at the Museum of Natural and Human History, there’s a collection of Tyrannosaurus rex dinosaur bones. The T. rex was really huge!
