Did you know

Stamp is the producer of Palmy’s new album.

After the success of his sold-out concert, Stamp Krian Day, a few years ago, singer-songwriter Apiwat Ueathawonsuk (Stamp) will return for his long-awaited concert Stamp Fah Pa on September 19, to support his latest album Sci-Fi.

Famous for his all-round talent and witty personality, 33-year-old Stamp has penned a string of hit singles including “Man Kong Pen Kwam Rak (I Guess It’s Love),” “Hai Tai Si Phap Pha (Damn It),” “Kwam Kit (Thought)” and the recent award-winning “Sad Pralard (The Beast).”

Stamp is also known for his impressive live performances, and always keeps his audience entertained. At the upcoming concert, he will be joined by special guests including Palmy, Japanese synth-pop group YMCK and many more.

Student Weekly recently caught up with Stamp to chat about music and his experience working as a coach on The Voice Thailand.

Student Weekly: How does it feel to win artist of the year at the Seed Awards and single of the year at the Kom Chad Luek Awards?

Stamp: It means a lot. No matter what I win, I feel honoured that my work is being appreciated. It gives me the confidence to make better music.

Student Weekly: Why did you decide to use animation in the Sad Pralard music video?

Stamp: I have to thank our director, Yossiri Baisri. I was impressed by the video he did for Hugo’s “Hailstorms.” I think he’s really into that kind of animation. I just let him hear the song, then he could do whatever he wanted with the video. I’m glad that it came out really well.

Student Weekly: Why did you name your upcoming concert “Stamp Fah Pa (Stamp Lightning Strike)”?

Stamp: I normally play at small venues where you can give an intimate performance, but Stamp Fah Pa is much bigger than that. My record label wanted something big, yet still have a Stamp feeling of fun. The name Stamp Fah Pa really fits with the concept.

Student Weekly: Can you tell us about the comic book that comes with every concert ticket?

Stamp: I thought it would be interesting to involve a story and cartoons in the show. So we came up with the concept of a lightning strike. What happens after a lightning strike? What Stamp would do? The comic book sets the mood and tone for the concert. People who come to my show will already understand the concept from reading the comic.

Student Weekly: Are you a fan of comic books?

Stamp: Definitely. I was a huge fan of Dragon Ball when I was growing up. The story is amazing. Akira Toriyama's art is beautiful and his writing is exciting and funny. The fight scenes are superb. I think manga and comic books are something that all boys love. Every boy dreams about fighting, adventure and great friendship.

Student Weekly: Have you seen any good concerts recently?

Stamp: I went to see the K-pop group Big Bang with my girlfriend last month, and we really enjoyed the show. I first saw them a couple of years ago, and I was impressed with their massive professional production. Their show and all the new songs are pretty cool. We got to meet the band, see them rehearse and sound check. It was a new experience for me.

Student Weekly: What did being a coach on The Voice Thailand mean to you?

Stamp: I felt proud and honoured to be part of the show. I was so happy to be chosen. It was a great opportunity and something I’ve never experienced before. I became more mature and learned a lot from the show, like how to work with other people as a team. I won’t be on the next season, but I didn’t go away. I’m still here, always making music.

Stamp Fah Pa will be held on September 19 at Impact Arena, Muang Thong Thani. Tickets are 1,500 to 3,500 baht from Thai Ticketmajor. For more information, call 02 262 3456.
