Did you know
Dan’s first band was D2B.
The talented performer, director and producer, Dan Worrawech, has mixed racing cars with a parallel universe to create the new TV series Sing Rak Ta Lu Mi Ti (Parallel Universe). In the series, Dan plays Dim, the son of a top auto racing driver. After his dad mysteriously disappears, Dim finds a legendary Toyota Celica racing car which can take him to a parallel universe, where he meets a guy who looks like his dad. Dim then tries to figure out what happened to his father.
Student Weekly recently met up with three supporting characters in the series. Laksanaporn Katakunthara (Preaw), 18, plays Dim’s sister Dew, who’s in a love triangle with two guys — Sunday, played by the 25-year-old Visava Thaiyanont (Tomo from K-Otic) and Iam, played by the 24-year-old Songamnart Junhaman (Boo from Vwiilz). The actors told us about the series, their relationship and the parallel universe.
Student Weekly: Can you tell us about your characters?
Tomo: Sunday has a bad boy personality, but he’s cool and has been through tough times so is strong. I’m not really cool like him because I’m more playful.
Preaw: At first, Dew is lively, but she becomes sad after her brother Dim disappears. When Dim comes back with a girl, she is upset. There are lots of dramatic scenes. I have to understand her pressure and emotion, so I can express her feelings.
Boo: My character, Iam, is a daydreamer who likes messing around and making people happy.
Student Weekly: What is the parallel universe?
Tomo: Sunday travels to another dimension, but doesn’t go through the past or future. It is the same time. I think it’s possible to have a parallel universe, but we can’t travel there by car like we do in the show.
Boo: I believe there is a parallel universe. I’m always interested in this kind of mysterious theory. It’s a shame my character is stuck on only one side of the universe.
Student Weekly: Have you ever been in a love triangle?
Preaw: Yes, but it’s all fixed now. My solution was to not think about it and be single and spend time with my family. It was better to end the relationship, so I did.
Student Weekly: What was it like working together?
Preaw: Tomo is my favourite K-Otic member. I was very surprised to meet and work with him. The way Boo always moves around while talking is funny. He makes me laugh.
Tomo: Preaw is friendly, and I don’t have any scenes with Boo because he stays in the other dimension. But we’re both singers, so we’ve met at concerts before.
Boo: Preaw is very good at acting which made me lose my confidence. In dramatic scenes she was able to cry instantly. I was amazed. But when I made mistake in a scene, I felt sorry for her because she had to cry again.
Student Weekly: What was the most difficult scene to film?
Tomo: The most difficult so far was an action scene in a dusty basement. I had to fall on the floor many times. It was difficult because I had to act like I was always in pain. At one point, I almost fainted after I breathed in too much dust.
Student Weekly: What are the differences between being an actor and being a singer?
Tomo: Acting is more difficult. Being a singer, you have to sing the same songs over and over, which you can remember after a lot of practice. But being an actor, you have to play different characters and express different moods.
Boo: I feel like they’re similar in terms of pressure, concentration and performance. While singing involves being onstage for a short time, for acting you need to be extremely focused while filming.
Student Weekly: Why should we watch the show?
Tomo: The series was filmed in beautiful locations and has great cinematography. And this is our first TV series. I would like everybody to watch it because we tried our best.
