Directed by Yoshihiro Fukagawa, Finding Calico is a film about a former school principle, Kyoichi (Issey Ogata), and a stray cat called Mii.
After his wife passes away, Kyoichi has to live alone. His only company is the cat which his wife used to feed, who regularly comes to his house. Kyoichi feels upset to see Mii because her presence reminds him of his wife, so he always chases her away.
But one day, after Mii stops showing up at his place, Kyoichi feels worried and starts to look for her. During his search he reconnects with his town and learns to deal with the loss of his wife.
