Upcoming Movies

Drama/Musical: LAUREL CANYON (August 29, 2003) Laurel Canyon is a street that runs through Hollywood Hills. Among its residents are Jane, a record producer making an album with a British band whose lead singer is her much younger lover. Then Janes quiet son and his fiancée Alex (Kate Beckinsale) come to stay. A complex and emotional love story.

Horror/Drama: A TALE OF TWO SISTERS (August 29, 2003) Sisters Su-mi and Su-yeon return home after recovering from an illness, but find they are fearful of their stepmother Eun-joo. Su-yeon feels a presence in her room and Su-mi sees a ghost of her late mother, who hung herself in Su-yeon's closet. Another Asian ghost movie, this time from Korea.

Action/Comedy: THE MEDALLION (August 29, 2003) Eddie Yang (Jackie Chan who seems to make a new movie every month) is a Hong Kong cop who suffers a near fatal accident while investigating a case involving a mysterious medallion. Eddie soon discovers that with the powerful medallion in his possession, he gains incredible speed, strength and skills. Expect the expected, but it should be fun.

Comedy: HEAD OF STATE (August 29, 2003) Before the US is about to elect a president, one of the candidates is killed in a plane crash. Senator Bill Arnot convinces his staff to pick a replacement who has no chance of winning. But he gets more than he bargained for when he selects the outrageous Mays Gilliam (Chris Rock).

Horror: FREDDY VS JASON (September 5, 2003) It's been almost 20 years since one of the scariest horror characters of all time, Freddy Krueger, invaded the dreams of a generation. Now, Freddy has entered into the dreams of another master of evil Friday the Thirteenth's Jason Voorhees. "Not as good as expected," said one viewer who clearly has low expectations.

NEWLY RELEASED VCDs/DVDs

Action: DAREDEVIL If you didn't see it in the cinema, watch it now. This is the story of Matt Murdock (Ben Affleck), the son of a boxer who gets killed by criminals. This drives young Matt to fight crime even though he's blind. If that sounds weird, how about a man who turns big and green when he's angry?

Action/Comedy: SHANGHAI KNIGHTS You either love them or hate them (answers on a postcard please) but you can't ignore them. After taming the Wild West in Shanghai Noon, Chon Wang (Jackie Chan) and Roy OBannon (Owen Wilson) are back in the saddle, but this time theyre out to settle a score in London. Predictable but fun.
