Vehicles must have safety sticker

From August 16, owners of vehicles that have been converted to use natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas will not be permitted to fill up at gas stations without displaying a sticker certifying their safety.

Deputy Transport Minister Songsak Thongsri said that all converted vehicles must pass safety checks by the Land Transport Department before the stickers are issued.

Internet data to be kept

From August 23, private firms, organisations and government agencies will be required to store all Internet traffic data for 90 days.

The data must be kept so that it can be made available to police as evidence.

Yannapol Youngyuen, commander of the Bureau of Technology and Cyber Crime said that the IT Ministry order has no exceptions and will include banks, hotels, schools and Internet cafes.

Organisations that fail to obey the rules will face fines of up to 500,000 baht, he said.

Men caught stealing from the street

Police caught two men who were stealing manhole covers in Bangkok. The men were caught on August 14.

The men were selling the manhole covers to a scrap metal shop.

The men sold the manhole covers for 8 baht per kilogramme. They wanted to buy a car with the money.


Up in flames

Firemen hose down flames at a petrol station in Surat Thani on August 14. The fire started when the driver of a truck carrying cooking gas cylinders was buying petrol. It is unclear what actually caused the fire to break out.
