Yao
Ming began playing professional basketball when he was a teenager. He tried out
for the Shark Junior team when he was 13 years old, practising 10 hours a day
to make the team. By the age of 17, he was playing for the senior Shark team.
Yao entered the NBA Draft in 2002 and was selected by the Houston Rockets as a
first-round pick.
Yao is married to Ye Li, a former player for the Chinese national women�s
basketball team.
