Kim Hyun-Joong, the talented South Korean actor and singer, gave a full-scale concert in Bangkok in July, as part of a world tour he was due to wind up shortly before reporting for military service in his country later this year.
Presented by T-Group Holding, the 2014 Kim Hyun-Joong World Tour in Bangkok concert took place at Thunder Dome, Muang Thong Thani on July 26, starting at 6 pm.
Many people came to see Kim when he held a meet-and-greet session for Thai fans here two years ago. The 28-year-old rocketed to stardom following his appearance in the 2009 Korean TV series Boys Over Flowers. His interpretation of the role of Yoon Ji-hoo earned him the best-actor award at the Seoul International Drama Awards in 2009 and a popularity award at the 45th Paeksang Arts Awards.
He then went on to play the male lead in a drama series called Playful Kiss. In his latest TV series, Inspiring Generation, he started performing his own action scenes.
As a singer, Kim, once the main rapper of boy band SS501, is regarded as a hallyu, a term used to describe top actors, actresses and music groups who are popular not only in their native South Korea, but also in other countries. Kim is beloved for his remarkable singing ability and dynamic dance moves. His good looks also make him a heart-throb for people of all ages.
