Letter of the week

PRESENT FROM PATTAYA

I recently had a chance to go to Pattaya. My family and I had fun dining on seafood and barbecued meat. We grilled shrimp, crab, sea mussels, scallops, chicken and pork on the barbecue.

I cleaned the scallops before grilling them, and I got an idea to make a souvenir for my friends. I created it by attaching a cute sticker to the shell and writing a meaningful message on it. I enjoyed making it and did it with care. I hope my friends don't think that it's a valueless thing. I paid attention to it even though it didn't cost much. I hope my friends like it!

Reading your letter makes me hungry, Pensinee! I love grilled seafood, especially when I get to eat it by the sea. I'm sure your friend appreciated your thoughtful home-made gift, too. Thanks for writing in. — Editor

FRIENDLY TRIP

My name is Tent. Have you ever been on a backpacking trip in a remote area? I once had a trip in Kanchanaburi with my Indonesian friend. He was going on the trip alone and asked me to join. I thought it would be a good chance to practise speaking English with him.

We stayed at a hostel in Sangkhla Buri. It was a great destination for people who love nature. Our trip lasted for five nights, and then my friend went back to Indonesia, but we still keep in touch.

That sounds like a fun trip, Tent. Kanchanaburi is a very nice place and I'd like to go there again some time. I used to go backpacking and camping in remote areas quite often when I was younger. I grew up in an area west of Sydney called the Blue Mountains, which has plenty of bush and forest for bushwalks and camping. It's a great way to get away from it all without spending too much money! — Editor

ANT-MAN FAN

My name is Tong and I’m studying in Matayom 6. I normally don’t get very good grades in English class, but reading your magazine helps me improve my English skills a lot. I love many of your columns, but my favourite is the film column.

I’m a huge fan of movies, and I usually go to see almost every film at the cinema whenever I can. My recent favourite film is Ant-Man. I've enjoyed most of Marvel’s superhero movies, but Ant-Man appealed to me the most. Maybe it's because the movie is funny, and my favourite comedy actor, Paul Rudd, is in it. I’ve seen most of his other films like The 40-Year-Old Virgin, I Love You, Man and Anchorman.

I highly recommend Ant-Man to anybody who still hasn't seen it!

Bangkok

Thanks for your letter, Tong. Ant-Man has been getting some good reviews and it seems that you're not alone in thinking it's one of the best Marvel superhero movies so far. I haven't seen it yet, but from what I've read and from watching the trailer, it looks like an interesting film! — Editor
