CHATROOM Photos courtesy of Bangkok Post/ AP Letter of the week TEEN TIMEIm in Matayom 4 at Mahavajiravudh School in Songkhla. Have you ever wondered why grownups always say that teens cause lots of problems? Its as if they were never teenagers themselves. I think the teen years are the most important period of our lives. You have to take care of many things, learn to be adult and solve new problems that happen every day. Its not easy when your education gets harder and harder, and you want to hang out with your friends. You have to organise your time. Every day becomes more serious and complicated, like sitting in physics class while youre thinking about lunch. Do you have any advice on how to organise our lives and realise our dreams? Kamonchanot
Sattabongkod Thats a good question, Kamonchanot. If you really have trouble finding time to do everything you have to do, maybe you should start by making a weekly schedule for yourself. Include all of the things that you have to do during the week and when you have to do them. Next, see how much time is left for doing the things that you want to do and write as many of them as you can into your schedule. Remember to budget time for rest and having fun, too. Keeping your life balanced will help you face your challenges and also help you appreciate the good times even more. Editor LAZY GENIUSIn my opinion, nobody wants to be lazy. They just cant find a reason to be diligent. I often forget to submit my assignments, and sometimes I submit them late. I lose some points, but my dependable brain always gives me good grades. My friends think that Im intelligent, and so do I. Some of them call me a lazy genius. I dont think that Im lazy I just dont have much enthusiasm. I dont know why my friends have to study hard. Im just happy with what I get from my good teachers at school. All I have to do is remember what Ive learned and use my brain to apply it during the exams. Do you think Im lazy? Panithi Jiampugdee, Rayong Well, you dont sound lazy to me, Panithi. But what do I know? Ive never met you. One thing you do seem to be is self confident. Its good to be sure of yourself, but remember that there will probably come a time in your life when you wont be able to get away with turning your assignments in late. It certainly wouldnt wash in the magazine business. There are lots of things in life that were not enthusiastic about but we have to do anyway. Use that dependable brain to develop the discipline to face the mundane tasks and get them done on time. After that, you can be as lazy as you want. Editor COLOURFUL INDIAI would like to tell you about the scenery at my school in India. My school is on a hill station called Kotagiri. The scenery is gorgeous and breathtaking. The whole place is covered with trees and tea bushes. The sun rises so beautifully that you just cannot take your eyes off it. The sky is painted with orange, red, blue and sometimes purple even in the morning. When the sun sets, the sky is crimson red and navy blue as the night progresses. There are many amazing and beautiful scenes there. Putsacha Chotanapanich, Nonthaburi Your colourful description makes the place sound wonderful, Putsacha. Thank you for sharing your story with us. Editor TIME FOR TOURISMHi. Next semester I will be in Matayom 6, so Im looking for a university to enter soon. Im interested in hospitality and tourism management because they are very important for Thailand. The tourism and hotel business bring lots of money to Thailand every year. Most Thai receptionists are very kind and gentle. This is something that attracts foreigners from around the world. I recently found out that more than 10 million tourists visit Thailand every year. If I study this field, I dont think that I will ever be unemployed. If possible, I would like to study at an international college so that I can improve my English and other languages with foreign friends. Trairat U-pakote, Udon Thani It sounds like youve picked a great career path, Trairat. Tourism is, indeed, an important part of the Thai economy. If youre patient and good with people, it can be a very rewarding and fun experience. Good luck. Editor
